Frequently Asked Questions

Does the app send my photos to the internet?

No. All processing — background removal, face detection, cropping — happens entirely on your iPhone using Apple's on-device Vision and Core Image frameworks. Your photos never leave your device.

Why wasn't my face detected?

Make sure the photo is well-lit, taken straight on, and that your full face is clearly visible. Glasses, hats, or heavy shadows can reduce detection accuracy. If detection fails, the app uses an upper-center crop as a fallback.

The background colour doesn't look right — how do I change it?

On the photo editor screen, tap the background colour selector (white / light blue / grey) before taking or importing your photo. You can also tap "Reprocess" after switching colours.

How do I adjust the crop position?

After processing, tap "Adjust Frame". This opens a full-screen view of your original photo where you can pinch to zoom and drag to reposition before applying the crop. (Available in Custom Size — Premium feature.)

I purchased Premium but it's locked again after reinstalling

Tap "Restore Purchase" on the paywall screen. Your purchase is stored by Apple and can be restored for free at any time on any device signed in with the same Apple ID.

Which paper sizes does the Print Sheet support?

3R (3.5×5 in), 4R (4×6 in), 5R (5×7 in), and A4. Each size includes printer-safe margins so your photos won't be clipped.

Can I use the app for official government submissions?

Official Photo Maker uses publicly documented photo specifications for each country's documents. Always verify the current requirements on the issuing authority's official website before submitting, as specifications may change.

Which languages is the app available in?

English · 简体中文 · 繁體中文 · 日本語 · 한국어 · Français · Deutsch · Español · Italiano · Português · Русский · العربية. You can change the app language from the Home screen.
